There is much merit in really “sitting” with Course ideas and allowing there full ramifications and implications to become apparent.
The title of this musing is taken from the “What Is Death?” section of the Manual For Teachers. Jesus says: “ Accept no compromise in which death plays a part.” Read the rest of this entry »

The Course teaches that only what is true is true and everything else is false. There is no hierarchy amongst illusions. They are all equally false.
The belief in the reality of the sense of person and personhood is the sleight of hand, the blind spot, that keeps the feeling of the reality of dreams fixed. Read the rest of this entry »

At one time Jesus says: the ego analyzes and the Holy Spirit accepts. Jesus has many things to say about the fallaciousness of judgment and the utter impossibility of any of us to have a true judgmental thought. Read the rest of this entry »

I was recently inspired to write a poem called “In No Single Instant”. The poem can be viewed on our site under the category “Verse”. This inspiration arose from the contemplation of these ideas:
“Temptation has one lesson it would teach, in all its forms, wherever it occurs. It would persuade the holy Son of God he is a body…” T-31. VIII. 1: 1-2 Read the rest of this entry »

Love waits on welcome, not on time,
Release is given you the instant you desire it.
Innocence is not of your making.
It is given you the instant you would have it.
A Course in Miracles T-13.VII.9:7, T-18.VII.4:3,T-15.IV.9:3-4
Sometimes when I am waking in the morning, I may receive some helpful advice. It’s that time when one is partly awake, and partly asleep. The thinking mind hasn’t fully started up, and this seems to give spirit a chance to get in. It seems spirit will take any chance that it is given! Recently, I was given a picture of the spiritual seeker on his journey back home. He was walking along this very long path, which eventually led to the top of a mountain. He was tired, but kept on moving. However, as he was moving along the path, there was a hand reaching down from above his head. This hand was trying to lift him up, into peace and joy. But the seeker could not see this hand, for he always had his eyes on the distant goal of the mountaintop. One day the seeker was so exhausted by his search he stopped on the path. He had surrendered, he had given up his search. It was then he looked up and saw the hand above him. To his amazement the hand reached down and lifted him back to heaven.

Every now and then the announcement of a new theory from science or a new presentation, say in film, promotes discussion by some Course students that at last Science or some other field is finally proving what ACIM has been saying.
Really?

Jesus teaches in the characteristics of God’s teachers section of the Manual that trust is the foundational characteristic upon which all the others are built. The ego has a foundational characteristic too, a characteristic that is but an aspect of its one emotion: fear. And that is doubt. Read the rest of this entry »

Jesus poses the question: “Would you rather be hostage to the ego or host to God?”(T.11.II.7: 1). In the same paragraph he goes on to say: “You are free to determine who shall be your guest, and how long he shall remain with you. Yet that is not real freedom, for it still depends on how you see it.”
Here the question of what is real freedom is raised and as usual the Course has its own radical version of what freedom is.

We are used to the idea that at any moment we are either expressing love or fear. It is also helpful to think in terms of at any moment we are either projecting or allowing ourselves to be vehicles for extension. This brings us back to the central idea that we are Mind and as Mind we are never neutral. As Jesus says there are no idle thoughts. Read the rest of this entry »

In Workbook Lesson 57 there is a review of the lesson: There is another way of looking at the world, Jesus teaches that insofar as we are presently seeing the world upside down, if we are seeing the world as a prison for God’s Son, then it must be a place where he can be set free.

If I hold the judgement of guilt against myself, I must hold it against you. If I hold the judgement of guilt against you I must hold it against myself. The Holy Spirit teaches in the Holy Instant that none of us have sinned and that we are always already free. Sin, guilt and fear belong only to time and history. We are not of time and our only origin is God.

Being is the only profundity. Thinking, “imaging”, having a concept of any kind is counterfeit and second hand.
Being is Now. Being is already Given. Read the rest of this entry »

I have within me the incorrigible, the resistant and the recalcitrant. I have that within me which refuses to give up. This one implicitly insists that its way of seeing is correct.
This one is the core impulse of and towards the idea of being a separate will. It is willfulness itself. This one refuses to do the little Jesus asks.

Give up the belief in “good” and “bad”.
The fundamental truth is is that the only good is God. The fundamental truth is is that only that which emanates from the Father is good. God is the only good; Christ is the only good. What meaning does any worldly idea of good or bad then have?

Understanding that the anger or guilt felt towards another is but a projection of one’s own guilt is a concept readily grasped by many Course students. Accepting it takes a little longer. Recognising it in all its permutations even longer for the ego, our “trusty” ally in the dream, doesn’t really care where or what the guilt rests upon, as long as it rests on something. Using its major weapon, the belief in form over content, it seeks to delude us into thinking change has occurred when in fact nothing has changed.

“Yet if God gave an answer there must be a way in which your problems are resolved, for what He wills already has been done. Thus it must be that time is not involved and every problem can be answered now. Yet it must also be that, in your state of mind, solution is impossible.”

The Course is asking us to give up the belief in opposites and exchange it for the idea of contrast. God simply is; Truth and all its attributes are. Because there is God, there is no devil. Because there is Love there is no fear. Because there is Life there is no death. Because there is Reality there is no illusion. Because there is joy there is no pain. Because God created Mind awake there is only the appearance of mind asleep.

Memory is a skill we have taught ourselves. It is not the same as viewing the past. Memory can be used to remember the Presence of the Presence. In this Holy Instant I allow myself to experience Beingness which is the Thought of God.

We are asked to be vigilant only for God and His Kingdom. Jesus tells us we must be if we are to become a teacher of God in the way He is. He tells us we must use the same vigilance we have used for the ego to use it against it.

Stress arises when we endeavor to use form as a means to arrive at content. Events and circumstances are used to arrive at a condition that we deem is better than what is the case now. Stress can only occur when we are in an action of becoming.
