Proof at last??

Posted in Musings at 2:41 pm by James

Every now and then the announcement of a new theory from science or a new presentation, say in film, promotes discussion by some Course students that at last Science or some other field is finally proving what ACIM has been saying.

Really?

Doubt

Posted in Musings at 10:22 am by Linda

Jesus teaches in the characteristics of God’s teachers section of the Manual that trust is the foundational characteristic upon which all the others are built. The ego has a foundational characteristic too, a characteristic that is but an aspect of its one emotion: fear. And that is doubt. Read the rest of this entry »

What is Freedom?

Posted in Musings at 11:42 am by Linda

Jesus poses the question: “Would you rather be hostage to the ego or host to God?”(T.11.II.7: 1). In the same paragraph he goes on to say: “You are free to determine who shall be your guest, and how long he shall remain with you. Yet that is not real freedom, for it still depends on how you see it.”

Here the question of what is real freedom is raised and as usual the Course has its own radical version of what freedom is.

Projection and Extension

Posted in Musings at 4:25 pm by Linda

We are used to the idea that at any moment we are either expressing love or fear. It is also helpful to think in terms of at any moment we are either projecting or allowing ourselves to be vehicles for extension.  This brings us back to the central idea that we are Mind and as Mind we are never neutral. As Jesus says there are no idle thoughts. Read the rest of this entry »

The World as a Place of Freedom

Posted in Musings at 11:35 am by Linda

In Workbook Lesson 57 there is a  review of the lesson: There is another way of looking at the world, Jesus teaches that insofar as we are presently seeing the world upside down, if we are seeing the world as a prison for God’s Son, then it must be a place where he can be set free.

Accepting the Atonement is our Only Purpose

Posted in Musings at 10:51 am by Linda

If I hold the judgement of guilt against myself, I must hold it against you. If I hold the judgement of guilt against you I must hold it against myself. The Holy Spirit teaches in the Holy Instant that none of us have sinned and that we are always already free. Sin, guilt and fear belong only to time and history. We are not of time and our only origin is God.

Being is the Only Profundity

Posted in Musings at 5:32 pm by Linda

Being is the only profundity. Thinking, “imaging”, having a concept of any kind is counterfeit and second hand.

Being is Now. Being is already Given. Read the rest of this entry »

The “problem” of the incorrigible.

Posted in Musings at 4:17 pm by Linda

I have within me the incorrigible, the resistant and the recalcitrant. I have that within me which refuses to give up. This one implicitly insists that its way of seeing is correct.
This one is the core impulse of and towards the idea of being a separate will. It is willfulness itself. This one refuses to do the little Jesus asks.

Give up the belief in good and bad.

Posted in Musings at 4:13 pm by Linda

Give up the belief in “good” and “bad”.

The fundamental truth is is that the only good is God. The fundamental truth is is that only that which emanates from the Father is good. God is the only good; Christ is the only good. What meaning does any worldly idea of good or bad then have?

Time to drop the ball!

Posted in Musings at 6:36 pm by James

Understanding that the anger or guilt felt towards another is but a projection of one’s own guilt is a concept readily grasped by many Course students. Accepting it takes a little longer. Recognising it in all its permutations even longer for the ego, our “trusty” ally in the dream, doesn’t really care where or what the guilt rests upon, as long as it rests on something. Using its major weapon, the belief in form over content, it seeks to delude us into thinking change has occurred when in fact nothing has changed.

Beyond the Thinking of the World

Posted in Musings at 10:49 am by Linda

“Yet if God gave an answer there must be a way in which your problems are resolved, for what He wills already has been done. Thus it must be that time is not involved and every problem can be answered now. Yet it must also be that, in your state of mind, solution is impossible.”

Give Up the Belief in Opposites

Posted in Musings at 10:37 am by Linda

The Course is asking us to give up the belief in opposites and exchange it for the idea of contrast. God simply is; Truth and all its attributes are. Because there is God, there is no devil. Because there is Love there is no fear. Because there is Life there is no death. Because there is Reality there is no illusion. Because there is joy there is no pain. Because God created Mind awake there is only the appearance of mind asleep.

Remember What I Am

Posted in Musings at 10:04 am by Linda

Memory is a skill we have taught ourselves. It is not the same as viewing the past. Memory can be used to remember the Presence of the Presence. In this Holy Instant I allow myself to experience Beingness which is the Thought of God.

We Cannot Not be Vigilant

Posted in Musings at 12:30 pm by Linda

We are asked to be vigilant only for God and His Kingdom. Jesus tells us we must be if we are to become a teacher of God in the way He is. He tells us we must use the same vigilance we have used for the ego to use it against it.

Stress

Posted in Musings at 10:33 am by Linda

Stress arises when we endeavor to use form as a means to arrive at content. Events and circumstances are used to arrive at a condition that we deem is better than what is the case now. Stress can only occur when we are in an action of becoming.

Cease trying to understand through the filter of object(s)

Posted in Musings at 10:58 pm by Linda

All our struggles in trying to understand the Course, our very struggle to understand it arises because we are attempting to understand it through the filter of our belief in object(s) or an objectified reality out there. It simply means that we are attempting to reconcile its principles with an unexamined image of “the world”, as if there could be a world apart from our perception of it. There can be no reconciliation.

Judgement as the Authority Problem

Posted in Musings at 9:59 pm by Linda

To judge is to re-enact the authority problem. It is an existential gesture of “ I want it thus”. It is a gesture that implies there is an “I” to judge, a person who understands something and a person who understands or sees something correctly. It is a gesture that presumes to select from and reject parts of reality as it sees it. It is a gesture that usually leads to a behaviour which is coercive or which moodily sulks about the way things are.

Our Only Purpose is Forgiveness

Posted in Musings at 7:44 pm by Linda

Our only purpose is forgiveness. We are not asked to judge or to select from whatever is arising. We are not asked to declare our preferences or to hold to the idea that my happiness depends on persons, events and circumstances presenting themselves differently. Read the rest of this entry »

I am as God created me
