Cease trying to understand through the filter of object(s)
All our struggles in trying to understand the Course, our very struggle to understand it arises because we are attempting to understand it through the filter of our belief in object(s) or an objectified reality out there. It simply means that we are attempting to reconcile its principles with an unexamined image of “the world”, as if there could be a world apart from our perception of it. There can be no reconciliation.
Jesus tells us our understanding is unnecessary and irrelevant to the awareness of truth. Even more than that we need to reach a point in which we see the very attempt to understand is a positive obstruction. Truth and Reality cannot be figured out. Figuring out always involves a singling out of specifics and then an attempt to order those specifics in a way the thinker deems fit. We are free to go down that path as many times as we like, but never will we find peace.
There is only subject. This is simply another way of saying there is no world apart from my perception of it. ALL perception is MY perception. This awareness is truly the dawning of Light and Freedom because I can do something about how I am seeing. The Light of true understanding is entirely within. It precedes any thinking or cogitation. A thought may arise from that awareness. It does not work the other way around. One cannot understand eternity and being from the perspective of the belief in specifics.
All this highlights the importance of learning how to be truly quiet so that we may listen and learn. Nothing new can come into awareness without these qualities.
The inviolate nature of Truth and Being allows for paradox. The radical awareness awakened with the insight that I AM subject and there can be no other can be arrived at by an apparently opposite route. There is ONLY object and I am none of that. Anything that is perceptual is object. My reality is only subject. I am as God created me has never been touched by any appearance because it is only an appearance. This awareness is the peace that passes understanding.
Peace is destroyed with any motion to single out an aspect of the appearance as if it were Me. In this perspective suffering is the action of making a subject of what is an object.
Enough of words!
God is…..
