The “problem” of the incorrigible.

I have within me the incorrigible, the resistant and the recalcitrant. I have that within me which refuses to give up. This one implicitly insists that its way of seeing is correct.
This one is the core impulse of and towards the idea of being a separate will. It is willfulness itself. This one refuses to do the little Jesus asks.
What is to be done with this one? I have learnt over many years of bitter struggle that all my efforts to correct this one, to refine it and control it come to nought. It cannot be loving or kind except in self delusion and pretense. In the perennial struggle between good and bad, light and darkness this one somehow wins. It always leaves me feeling a failure, depressed and depleted.Jesus teaches us that only God’s Answer works and that our only task is to accept His solution. In faith accept the unbelievable idea that our resistance to the truth is forgiven. Then rise above the battle ground and join our mind with Christ’s dreaming. Christ dreams the dream of the forgiven world.

The incorrigible, in other words, cannot be converted. When we practice true forgiveness it is simply outshone in the strength of Christ’s vision. As we persist in this way errors are looked through and seen beyond. They do not hold sway in our perception of ourselves or our brothers. Jesus speaks truly when he says that only God can establish this solution and that only God’s solution will work. That is because God and the God created is the only Reality; the only Truth.Let us make this day and every day happy by blessing all that we see with the gentle eyes of true forgiveness. Then we can truly say that Christ lives because he lives in us.

In humility and happiness,

Linda
