We Cannot Not be Vigilant
We are asked to be vigilant only for God and His Kingdom. Jesus tells us we must be if we are to become a teacher of God in the way He is. He tells us we must use the same vigilance we have used for the ego to use it against it.
Vigilance is only needed while there is an experience of duality. The belief in duality gives us a sense that there is choice and something to be chosen against. This means nothing to Knowledge or Truth because there is only One. Nothing to choose between.
Jesus says vigilance was required of Him until He reached the awareness that is beyond all choosing. If it was good enough for Him then it must also be so for us.
The idea of constant vigilance can seem overwhelming. If we look carefully at our experience, however, we will notice that we are always being vigilant. As Jesus’ students we are asked to use that self-same vigilance for a different purpose. We cannot not be vigilant. The only difference is in what we are vigilant for.
There is one major difference between the vigilance for the purpose of healing and forgiveness. It is an experience of wakefulness or being conscious. It represents a going against the momentum of the ego and the world as it as been set up. So in some sense an effort is required because we are literally going in another direction. The benefit is that we are becoming more peaceful.
Jesus has promised that effort, choosing and vigilance are only necessary until we realize there is only one meaningful choice. Let us make haste in cooperating with the Holy Spirits plan for salvation, so that realization may be sooner.
