0101 - Not another newsletter

“Oh no!” I hear you say, “not another newsletter on A Course in Miracles?” “What special function is this going to fulfil?” “What ‘guidance’ has led to other ‘helpful’ brothers trying to show us the way or better still, give us stories of how miracles have transformed their lives?” Well, may you ask! We certainly did when approached about the idea of putting out a “Course” newsletter. Given that there have been quite a few that have come and gone, and only a very few that have stayed the distance, why do we need another one? Well the simple answer is, we don’t. We must confess we have no inner guidance telling us to do this. No inner thought from our higher selves showing us the way to save our brother. In fact, rather than think, “Why another newsletter,” we thought, “Why not?”
“OK,” you say, “what’s it for then?”
To be honest with you, it’s for us. You see we (Linda, Graham and myself) enjoy talking and writing about the Course, Sometimes what we say or write is helpful to another, but it is always helpful to us. Talking and writing about the Course isn’t doing the Course by any means, although I am sure some students think it is. You can only do the Course by actually doing it, or better, letting it do you: every moment of your life. Talking about it is simply a way of making it clearer to that part of ourselves that still doesn’t want it, that still refuses to let go of its investment in the world. You could say it is a way of making sense of what really doesn’t make any sense to our egos.
And so we beg your indulgence and trust that as we share our questions and thoughts with you, you too may find something for you, an answer to a question you have, a question you never thought of, or better still, the realisation that you don’t have a question.
We certainly intend to enjoy it, and hope that you will too. Who knows, you may even feel like writing something yourself. We welcome any contributions. Although we cannot promise to publish them, or pay for them, we will read them.
