The Self Reflected

Posted in Verse at 5:13 pm by Graham Watts Print This Post Print This Post

A collection of verse by Graham Watts.

Knowing

Not the thoughts that really think
Whimsical images of one’s fearful stuff
Reflections in the mind of magical spells
The trickery of mind in and out to deceive
A sleight of hand in the psyche of sin
Projection making perception seem real
Mere interpretations conflicting to distract
Chaos in a world so despairing effecting
Judgements to defend, but what?
What frivolity made seemingly true
But opportunities to reflect on the self
To relinquish what never was
To know, just to Know
The Gnosis of One

World in the Mind

Making of nothing, continuously
Not ever this or that, truly can be
From where, but foolish dreaming
In fantasy, illusions made real
Images projected and denied in self wrath
But fragments defending so vain
But look, now dare to look
Simplicity, but with resistance so strong
Stand back in the mind and observe
Dispassionately, impersonally aware
Detached in a non-judging self
Reflections in the light of being
No mind, no brain, no body, no world
Never was nothing, only Life just is
In true creativity forever

Paradox

Oh mind seemingly split in two
Consciousness seems to appear and divide
And divides, and divides on and on
Conflicted, distressed from memories past
Never was, nor could be, on what could it rest?
The non-existent life being lived, not two
But a fragmented hologram of despair
Then destruction in self-crisis, must change
The Armageddon of self, within
A turning point, heartfelt, in true cause
Always the freedom to choose once again
Consciousness observed in the light
A glimmer of hope in the joy of the real
Reality abounds, in the radiance of Now

Relationships So Special

So called love, so special in hate to destruct
The bargains of love so deceptive, defending
What purpose? Lacking nothing to possess
Why the contract with death to play?
Futile games, despairing in the existential
Senseless musings in the psyche of sin
Seething with desires and promises to squander
Relationships of hate made, but to deceive
Lusting to satisfy the no-gap, incestuous guilt
In a fog of forgetfulness, what always is Now
The mirror of self wrath, must in awareness be seen
The key of true purpose to find, still reflecting
Unlearning to return, never was lost
Now let it be, of itself it just knows
The relationship of One in pure joy remembered

Mutually Exclusive Body and Mind

The body-mind-self existing, but to die
To be purposefully used, if wise
Look after the tool, whilst seeking the means
Projected images making a no-self seem real
An oddly assorted procession in time, passing by
Self-reflect the pantomime, see through and let go
Release the chains of guilt, so fearful
Back into the nothingness, seemingly arising
Deceptive images in the darkness of mind
But the light dawns forever, never was not
I am not a body-mind-self, but free
Not two, That I am

The Hidden Agenda

The Maya of the mind-body-world seems all
Projection of a universe, world and body self
Magic trickery to defend against Oneness
Illusions of deception, cherished, so desired
A sleight of hand deceives the foolish self
Existence in a thumb-screw, fearfully hides
A world of make-belief, to fill know not what
Relationships in tangled webs do fester
Allies to find with bargains to share
Attack to defend, no vision to be
Existence in self-made falsity to linger
What horror the self-made agenda conceals
The futility of secret sins and hidden hates
Nowhere space, in the dragging of time
Just the fabric of dreams, a saga made real
A usurper of Truth, in nothing but fantasy
Fearful nightmares of guilt, but from where?
Just awaken, awaken from the dream of death

Looking Dispassionately

When the Self in the mind knows the All
There is no self but One to perceive
In it but not of it, in awareness just is
Where is the I? Who is the I?
With no temptation to blame and condemn
To see in the vision, impersonally aware
Dispassionate, in the light just to know
What to judge that causes no harm?
But the passing of nothingness, seeming so real
The insanity of judgement to defend and accuse
Isolated individuals playing out life, in but death
In righteous self-hate, alone, but at once totally free

The Gap

A seeming distance of eons, so unreal
Lifetimes disappearing into the black holes of space
Fragments in a worldly space, all alone
Quantum waves appear and are gone
The hologram of space-time in chaotic disarray
Individual bodies abound in blissful insanity
In defensive self-righteousness, so sublime
Brains facing north-east, on a slab of hate
There is no gap in the radiance of light
Realisation, Itself reveals, self-perfected
Where is the end that has no beginning?
In everlasting unchanging peace
Like the sun never knowing darkness, nor its own light
Already is, just is, always is
Nothing to find, what release just to Know

Truth

Only truth is true
Opinions abound
Wandering away
Finding, but to blame
Not I, but them
the usurpers do cry
Self-destructive whims
the cries of death
The sacrifice of self
Love needs no appeasement
Reality always was
What else? Where else?

Premises

Carry the reasoning of self to logical conclusion
To find but total confusion about everything
Once chaos seen honestly, no desire can remain
Limiting and meaningless to the deluded self
Beliefs in the mind insisted, but to confuse
Straying away in false premises accepted
Not obvious to see for the no-mind, so defensive
Truth in awareness, but of itself just shows through
No knowledge without peace, but stillness to know.

Learning and Teaching

Past leaning, with abilities so great, never satisfy
Repeating the past over again, nothing ever new
Teaching and learning, giving to get,
so misperceived and changing, nothing to learn
Distractions of mind to unlearn, just interfering
Mind power misused, confuses and distracts
Know the truly non-desired
and be let free of the changing
Bring back the projections, beyond minds belief
In the timeless peace to have and to be
Disappearing at last, never was
Receiving is giving, the same
Unlearned, nothing to teach

Truth and Reality

Truth is true only that
For reality just to be
What else, but dreams
Come, know the dreamer
Who else? Where else?
Projected images, brought back
But disappearing in light’s reflection
In true faith, already there
The trust of knowing, honestly
Must have been mistaken, but still
the freedom to choose once again.
